Treatment for Snoring / Sleep Apnea

What Is Sleep Apnea?

We offer a promising treatment for snoring. Snoring is a common problem affecting 24% of adult men and 9% of adult women. Because 90% of snoring is generated by the uvula and soft palate, procedures that resect, shorten or stiffen the uvula and soft palate have generally been successful.

Sleep Apnea is a problem that has multiple consequences. If you or a loved one stops breathing during the night accompanied by snoring, you should be evaluated by an Otolaryngologist. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the apnea.

Pillar implants are used for treatment for snoring and sleep apnea. The procedure is done by inserting implantable medical devised into the soft palate for structural support which reduces the vibration of the soft palate that causes snoring and airway obstruction. The procedure is done under local anesthesia in our office. It is currently the only nonsurgical treatment which allows for an immediate return to diet and normal activities. Most patients only require Tylenol for the postoperative discomfort.
